We Are Broken

Home » We Are Broken

We are broken.
Like shards of glass from
a shattered mirror,
our sharp edges cutting those
who get too close.

We defend every corner and curve
of our individuality,
afraid of chipping away what makes us unique;
never realizing that living this way is why
we are broken.

God didn’t create individuals
to live individual lives.
He created us for community.
We are many parts,
but are all one body.

When pieced together like a multifaceted puzzle,
sealed together at every seam,
these severed pieces become whole once more,
creating a solid, smooth looking glass
that reflects the love it sees.

We are broken.
But, together we can shine.
What a beautiful thing it would be
if together we reflected God’s radiant love and peace
to the broken souls of a world in need.
